Water
The most important care of a new lawn is light, frequent watering. The seedbed must be kept moist during the first 3 weeks or until grass reaches approximately 3 inches tall.
Mowing
When your lawn reaches 31/2 –4 inches in height, it is time for the first mowing. Cutting should be done often and no more than 1/3 of the grass should be removed each time to decrease the chance of disease and injury. Always use sharp mower blades.
Fertilizing
Fertilizer was used in the installation process. Depending upon climate and time of year, consult your local agriculture center to ensure proper application for a new lawn.
Weed Control
It is not recommended to use weed control products on new grass. Hand pulling or spot treatments are advised. Weed and feed products, preemergents, or entire lawn treatments for the first year are not recommended. The best protection from weeds is proper mowing with sharp blades, quality fertilizer, and adequate watering. In most cases, a thick healthy lawn will prevent weeds.
A detailed water instruction guide will be given to you after the installation of your new
lawn.
